About:
Melodie Yvonne is a multidisciplinary artist whose work defies categorization—merging poetry, photography, and dark surrealist aesthetics into a singular, emotionally resonant experience. Her poetry delves into themes of desire, decay, and transformation, often interweaving elements of surrealism and erotic noir to challenge conventional perceptions. Melodie’s visual art complements her written word, employing a chiaroscuro aesthetic reminiscent of H.R. Giger’s biomechanical forms and William Mortensen’s pictorialist photography, creating a hauntingly beautiful tapestry that blurs the line between the corporeal and the ethereal.

A long-standing contributor to the Indianapolis arts scene, Melodie has exhibited visual works in galleries across the region and performed at key literary events such as Iconoclast and Swift City. Her art and writing often center on themes of transformation, spiritual longing, trauma, sexuality, and the search for meaning in chaos. Whether through a photograph or a verse, her creations invite audiences to sit with discomfort—and find unexpected beauty in it.

Current Work:
Melodie is currently at work on her forthcoming book Methlehem, a fierce and unflinching work of fiction inspired by lived experiences of survival, love, loss, and transformation. Blending raw honesty with lyrical intensity, the project confronts the shadows of human struggle while uncovering the strange beauty and resilience found within them.

Melodie’s visual art is regularly featured in local and national solo and group exhibitions, where her distinctive multidisciplinary style continues to captivate audiences. She is also available for poetry readings, delivering performances that blend theatricality and intimacy to leave a lasting impression.
